Mail could not be sent: relaying to <[...]> prohibited byadministrator

Hello.

Since some days, I keep getting an error message when trying to send from a
certain one of my mail accounts. Error message runs:

Error
relaying to <[...]> prohibited by administrator
Explanation
Mail could not be sent.
Account name: [Š]

I haven't changed anything concerning this account, and it runs fine on
mail.app (which I might eventually have to switch back to, since almost
nothing in Entourage runs as it should), so I know it's got nothing to do
with any administrator. Anyone know what this might be about?

thanks a lot

I should add two things.

1
I found that in the account settings, SSL and Authentication was turned off,
although it had been turned on before. I know this for sure, because the
server doesn't accept mail sendings without SSL, and I have been able to
send mail before. However, when I turn SSL on again, I get the Error
message:

Error
The server does not support secure connections.
Explanation
Mail could not be sent.
Account name: [Š]

which is of course wrong.

I use Entourage 11.2.3

When you get a message about relaying, it usually means you have connected
to one mail server and are asking to send via a second mail server. For
instance, if I normally connect through, say, Earthlink at home and use
their mail server, and I go on the road and connect to the Internet at some
hotel or hot spot, but try to use the server smtp.earthlink.net. In that
case I would get the "relaying prohibited" message. I would then need to
switch my settings to use authentication, which would basically simulate
logging in to Earthlink via the other server, and let me post my messages.

When you are directly connected to an ISP and using their mail server,
normally you DO NOT need authentication to send; you've already
authenticated when you logged in.

I would double-check everything. If you are using the mail server that
belongs to the Internet provider you have connected to, you should not need
authentication, and you should not get the relay message. This is pretty
basic stuff, and Entourage has been doing it just fine for many years...the
problem has to be in your settings.
