Mail deleted after being open

Hello!

A friend of mine has this problem of loosing his messages in gmail
after having read them. They only stay in his box when they are not
open and once read they just automatically disappear (sometimes
immediately, sometimes after a few minutes to hours). The same happens
to the messages which have been Sent.
I compaired his settings to the ones I use and it seems they are all
the same so I have no idea how to help him. He does not forward his
mail to another account or uses Outlook.

Can anyone help?

How is your friend connecting to Gmail? POP or IMAP?

When viewing each folder is the option View --> Unread Only selected? If
so, select it again to turn off that feature.

How is your friend connecting to Gmail? POP or IMAP?

When viewing each folder is the option View --> Unread Only selected? If
so, select it again to turn off that feature.

He is using Gmail as is. Not some client.
I or someone else sends him an email.
He sees the email, open to read it, "close"
it or for instance click Inbox
and ....gone is the email.
He sends an email but if he goes to the SENT box, he sees it, but
again, after he clicks it to read it , the email is gone......
In short: gmail seems to not store and or show after he has read the
message.

Is he reading his gmail in Entourage? If yes, then under View in the Menu
bar deselect Unread only.

If your friend is not using Entourage, then you are asking in the wrong
place.
