Mail disappears from in box

Email is gone randomly from inbox. After reading and then I click on
another application. Nothing is checked in view. I have installed all
updates (10.1.5 and checked for virus problems. eMac running OS X
10.3.2 with a palm T3 handheld (new) and I have rebuilt my entougrags
data base!

Are you certain you do not have "Unread only" or "Flagged only" checked?
Look in the View menu.
