mail folder on a remote server

My Exchange mailbox is over its size limit. I've been advised by our
IS department to move some of my mailboxes to a remote folder on a
server. My desire is to move folders that I access infrequently to the
remote drive location. I do access these folders so I will need the
exchange server to see them and I need Entourage to see them.
Entourage is on my laptop and I do not want to create a local folder.
I need to create the folders on a remote drive so that IS still backs
them up.

I've tried to add a folder in Entourage but it only likes to add them
to my local disk. Does anyone have any tips on moving a mailbox to a
remote drive?

I am using Entourage 2004 version 11.2.5 (060620).

Ouch..... Entourage can move the mailboxes to folders "on my computer"
but I am not aware of the possibility to use remote folders the way your
IS department suggests.
Entourage only accesses e-mails stored in its database,

and I don't know how you could do that.
The only thing I could think of would be to place the files on an IMAP
folder (from another account). This would allow you to see and use the
e-mails from other locations as well (you'll need to setup your e-mail
client - Entourage or Outlook - to check both your Exchange account and
the IMAP one), but that's it.

You could have the entire Entourage database on a remote drive, but that
sounds like trouble.... I would stay away from that.

Thanks for your reply.

The more time I spent on it today the more I realized that it was not
going to be straight forward. I was not able to find a way to move
only certain folders to a remote location while leaving others where
they currently reside. I agree with you. I don't like the idea of
moving my entire database to the remote drive.

The main issue comes from the fact that all e-mails are stored into a
rather monolithic database. THere is no way to move the location where
the folders are stored anywhere outside of the database. Nouch things as
PSTs in Entourage.
