Mail is going to the wrong folder

Hello,
I have email from people in my address book going to the junk folder even
though it says it will never do that. I also have e-mail from someone I
don¹t have in my address book (what I consider Junk) going into my inbox.
How do I get that straightened out? I¹ve looked everywhere and can¹t find
anything to indicate the problem or a place to fix the problem.
Any Help?

You must have a rule that is moving the message. The most likely culprit is
the Mailing List Manager (MLM). It's very easy to set up a MLM rule by
accident, when you are marking a message as 'not junk'. The wording of that
dialog is ambiguous to say the least. Check if there is an MLM entry (look
for MLM entries under the tools menu) with the incorrect destination folder
as the target folder. Mailing List Manager rules run before your other
rules.

There are 3 different kind of rules in Entourage:

Mailing List Manager (MLM)
Junk Mail Filter
Rules (custom rules you create)

They run in the order listed above. The custom rules also run in the order
they are listed. (top runs first)

Use the MLM for all lists. Use rules for the remainder. Try to use
categories instead of individual addresses when possible. When a new address
is added to a contact in the Address Book then it will automatically be
acted on by the rule if you use categories in your rules. See example:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/rules/example/rule002.html>

1) POP Rules act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in the Inbox (On My
Computer), NOT when it arrives in any other folder. Once it's moved to
another folder it won't be seen by rules.

2) IMAP Rules are meant to act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in
the IMAP INBOX, not when moved to another IMAP folder.

3) Exchange Rules act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in the
Exchange Inbox.

See "Using Rules with Entourage" for help and examples:

Thanks for the reply. I looked and I do not have any MLM or Rules. I just
have the Junk filter set on the second choice. Having my contacts (addresses
in my contact list) go to junk has been a problem for some time. Somewhere
along the way something changed and the one sender (not in my address book)
has started showing up in my inbox and not the junk box.
I am wondering if the address book in MSN has anything to do with my
problem. I'm pretty sure the contact list I have at my MSN address differs
(fewer addresses) with the address book I have in Entourage even though they
both refer to the same @msn.com address. Any other ideas?
Thanks
John

Create a new Identity in Entourage. Enter your MSN account info. Now
download mail. Does it happen in the new Identity?

There is no way Entourage interacts with your MSN Address Book. Is it
possible the MSN spam filter is acting on messages marking them as junk so
Entourage sees them as junk?
