Mail list as attachment not working

B

A user attached several mail lists from his contacts in Outlook on Windows
and mailed them to a bunch of people. All of the recipients who use Outlook
in Windows were able to read the attached mail list item with no trouble.

None of the Mac Entourage users however can read the attachments. I tried
this myself, and got the same result.

Does anyone know how to do this so it works? Is it possible to get it to
work? Is this a known bug?

We're using Office 2004, and Entourage is (supposed to be) patched with all
released patches.

I'm using OS X 10.4.5, but the other users are probably a mix of versions.

TIA

Was it something I said?

Does anyone from Microsoft read this group? Shouldn't I expect at least an
acknowledgment of my query from someone at Microsoft?

Does no one else have this problem?

Outlook does not appear to be sending contacts in any kind of standard
format, such as the VCF format that Entourage reads. You'll have the same
problem with contacts mailed to other non-Outlook clients, such as Hotmail.

I don't know why this is, but I'd blame it on Outlook rather than Entourage.
Why doesn't Outlook use VCF?

Yes, we do read this, but we don't get a chance to respond to each and every
message on the newsgroups (I'm a Program Manager--reading and responding on
the newsgroups is something I do in my spare time to try and help users like
you out).

What type of attachment was it? Could it be possible that the file type is
not supported on the Mac?

The user was attempting to send mail lists he had created for various
purposes to other users. These showed up as .vcf files in Outlook. Entourage
didn't know what to make of them. In the end, I had the original user have
his local OU admin submit the lists to the domain admin so they'd be
available as groups in the GAL.
