Mail messages not sent/received

I've had several emails I have sent which people have not received and then
on my end with emails people have sent me, but I have not received. I checked
with my email provider and they were able to send me records indicating that
the messages were collected by my computer. Meaning that it is not an ISP or
email provider issue. I do not have any rules or antispam. I'm running Tiger
10.4.10 and Entourage 2004 11.3.6 Please help!

Create a custom view to find the emails. Most likely you have a Mailing List
Manager rule that was set accidentally that is moving your mail.

I double checked the mailing list manager and there is nothing in there. My
display options show all messages. Nothing is exluded or filtered. This
hasn't happened often, but I have already missed a couple of important
emails. Please let me know what other suggestions you have. I'm thinking of
reinstalling. But this just seems too strange.

Use a custom view to see if you can find the messages. If they are in any
folder under "Folders on My Computer" you'll find them.

I created the custom view and I still can't see them. Also, just to clarify.
I had a problem sending as well -- a couple of recipients have claim to not
receive my messages a couple of times. I checked their computers myself
(friends) and sure enough they did not receive them. This has happened more
than just a couple of times. At this point I am wondering what Entourage is
doing. Could it really have pretended to send those messages, but it didn't?
Even though they ended up in my sent folder? It's kind of freaky. My email
provider says it isn't an issue on their end, but I don't know what else to
do other than stop using Entourage, which isn't much of an option. I hope
this extra information helps. Thank you!!

Your problems could be a combination of things beyond Entourage.

First, your service provider will most likely always tell you nothing is
wrong on their end. Take that with a grain of salt.

Second, if software works a lot of the time but fails intermittently
then it's most likely not the software that's failing to work. Instead,
something else is happening. Internet security software, antivirus
software, your mail server, your recipient's mail server or something
related to the network could be interfering.

If you believe the problem is Entourage then let's test a few things...

1. When sending mail, CC another E-mail account of your own to make sure
the message is getting to your service provider's mail server. If it
gets to you but not your recipient then begin looking solutions on the
recipient's end.

2. Use Entourage's Switch Identity command to create a new database and
use it for a while. You'll need to set up your mail accounts and rules
again but you can import contacts and old E-mail if things begin working
better for you.

3. Test for a while with something other than Entourage such as Apple's
Mail. If you notice the same behavior then the problem is either with
your service provider or your recipient's service provider.

4. Verify that mail rules are not coming into play on your recipient's
computer.

You mentioned earlier that your sent messages are indeed moving to your
Sent Items folder, which tells me that your messages are going out.
Otherwise, they would remain in the Outbox and Entourage would continue
to try sending them.

Hope this helps!

Thank you! I will close this thread, because my problem is really
inconclusive. I will investigate further with all the methods prescribed. I
appreciate your help!
