Mail messages suddenly end up in Deleted Items folder...

Running Leopard 10.5.1, MBPro 2GB, Entourage 2004 11.3.6
Today, mail started being delivered into my Deleted Items folder, rather
than the Inbox. It doesn't happen with AppleMail program. The product worked
fine this morning. This happens with aggravating frequency (like once a
week).

Any ideas?

You must have a rule that is moving the message. The most likely culprit is
the Mailing List Manager (MLM). It's very easy to set up a MLM rule by
accident, when you are marking a message as 'not junk'. The wording of that
dialog is ambiguous to say the least. Check if there is an MLM entry (look
for MLM entries under the tools menu) with the incorrect destination folder
as the target folder. Mailing List Manager rules run before your other
rules.

Hi Al!

You've probably created a Mailing List Manager rule by accident and it
is redirecting your messages. It's easy to do.

Check for any rules under Tools --> Mailing List Manager and disable
them temporarily until you find the culprit.

Hope this helps!

Nope. I checked them all out, and nothing had changed (I only had two rules
active). For some reason the rules were not being properly executed, while
they had been the day before. It's a bug of some kind, I'm sure. I deleted
the rules, rebuilt the db and now I'm receiving mail just fine. The thing
that I'm wondering about is whether something in the sleep mode with Leopard
and Entourage 11.3.6 is causing this, because I run my machine for many
times during the week when I just put it to sleep and then bring it back
out, rather than do a reboot.

We haven't had other users report any issues with Leopard's sleep and
Entourage.

It's hard to know if the rebuild or deleting the rules fixed your problem.
Rules can get corrupted though it's rare.
