I recently "upgraded" from Office v.X to Office 2004. Entourage said it
was importing my messages, contacts and settings. However, when I
started it up none of my cached IMAP e-mail was available. For those
accounts for which I have access Entourage re-downloaded the mail. For
those for which I no longer have access I can't get to it.
MS tech support said I needed to use the older version of Entourage to
copy all the e-mail to a local folder before then importing it into
2004. This seems like a ridiculous exercise. I understand that the
database format has changed between versions, but as a user I should not
have to know or worry about such a thing. As far as I'm concerned e-mail
that I was able to access previously is now no longer accessible. Am I
missing something, or is this a huge, absurd oversight on Microsoft's part?
I am also having a problem with Entourage attempting to access these
servers every time the application starts. Entourage 2004 seems to be
ignoring its settings to not "Include this account in my send and
receive all schedule" and to not "Live sync" for these accounts. Are
these things that do not work the same as before (or as they should), or
are they being screwed up by Entourage's inability to access any mail
for these accounts?
Thanks.
