Mail Send Error

Here are the facts:

1. Last successful mail sent 1/31/05 at 11:40 AM

2. Installed Junk E-Mail Filter Update 2/2/05 at 11:29 AM

3. Unable to send mail after updating junk email filter; now receiving the
following message:

Error -
An operation on the server timed out. The server may be down, overloaded, or
there may be too much net traffic.

Explanation -
Mail could not be sent. Account name: "Mac Mail"

Error: -3259

3. I am able to send mail from the .Mac web site. Assume problem is with
Entourage and not .Mac account

Please advise.

I had the same problem that you are having and thought it was Entourage
as well, but my Windoze PC had the same problem. It turns out that my
ISP (SBC) has applied a Port 25 filter to stop outbound email from
being sent from 3rd party mail servers. They applied this filter
without notice; you may have the same problem I had.

They force you to either use their smtp server or request that the
filter be taken off of your accout.
