Mail send/receive beep

I have recently been having my mail beep twice when its sending and receiving, it makes the annoying "beep" when it automatically syncs every ten minutes.

Anyone know how I can eliminate this beep?

I don't think that is possible. However, an alternative could be used.
Create a rule for incoming and outgoing mail using the example here:

See this page for using custom sounds with Entourage. You can even create
your own sounds or use computer voices to announce your mail. For example,
you could have the AppleScript say ³Mail from Dad².

For some reason, Entourage has a default notification sound configured to
sound whenever it polls for mail and *no* mail is received.

If that's the sound you're hearing, you can turn it off under Notification
preferences and that should eliminate it -- it's labelled as the "No mail
sound."
