Mail to Address Book freeze

When I go from Mail to address book, entourage freezes for up to 3 minutes
before doing it. Very frustrating. I¹ve rebuilt the database. What¹s up
anyone?

Entourage 10.1.1 (2418)

Mac X 10.2.6

Processor: 867 MHz power PC G4

My Database is 2.27 GB

Can't tell how big my mail is, but it's 3several years of accumulation.
