Mails moving to junk when sender isn't on junk list

Any help greatly appreciated

I have closed an email account that used to get loads of
junk and hence I now don't get much anymore - so I
cleared down my junk and adult senders lists entirely to
start afresh using the delete function provided.

However, I am now getting mails moving to Junk - even
though they are from friends and the mails aren't junk.

Why is this happeneing - and can I stop it without
turning off the junk feature which I still want to use
for occassional roguie messages I receive.
