Main identity.rge

Martin Rep

When trying Sync, I decided to use the Entourage archive function because I
was afraid that the Mail address book would overwrite my contacts in
Entourage. (It did, so I was glad I had archived ;-)
Apparently I had also archived e-mail messages.
So then I used the restore-function. The address book entries were restored
alright. I now expected that Entourage would ask me if I wanted to import
duplicate e-mails or not.
Instead, it created a folder, called main identity.rge. In that folder I
found the whole folder structure that I had backed up, including the
postings.

- Can I safely delete this folder?
- Can I safely delete the backup file main identity.rge, which I have stored
on my external HD, and finally
- why does Entourage create this folder instead of just putting back the old
e-mails on their original place?

Thanks for your help.

Yes

Yes, but you might want to consider keeping it for backup.

This way allows you to compare what you have with your old mails. The
structure is the same so it's easy to drag the imported messages to whatever
location you desire.
