Main User file GONE, HELP!!!!

Brent Waldrep

ok, so I made the biggest mistake last night and tried to do a
database rebuild on Entourage on my iBook running 10.2.6.

It locked up part way through, so I did a ctrl, command, power, to
reboot, it booted back up fine in X and I tried to launch entouarge,
and got an error, the program wouldn't even lanch, I went to find my
data in the main indentity, and the Microsoft user folder in the users
folder is empty, but I know a week or so ago, it was over 1 Gig in
size, and my disk does not show it having an additional Gig avail.
Meaning that data has to still be somwhere on my HD.

So I tried to lanch any other program and it starts to open any of
them, and then just stops.

So I boot up off the X disk, and run Disk first aid, it finds
problems, and says it repairs them, but then still says there are
problems. So I try and reboot from the HD in X and it won't even boot
up now. So I boot up in 9.2. and I'm doing a fresh back up of all my
files.

Now, My question is, can anything be down, to save my main from
entourage. I assume I'm going to have to format and reinstall
everything, but I have lost all my mail.

any help out there?

Brent

first, have you searched your hard drive for a file called 'Database'? If it
has been moved elsewhere this may find it.

Otherwise, from what you describe, it's been lost to disk corruption. Use
the disk as little as possible and try a repair utility like DiskWarrior,
Norton Utilities or the like.

If this doesn't get it back your going to be out of luck, I'm afraid :(
