Make message reply be from incoming address?

Hi.

I have multiple email addresses and I need to make
Entourage automagically use the address of the incoming mail as
the address in any replies that I send. Currently when I
reply to a message it sets the main identity address in the reply
no matter which inbound address the message was addressed to
unless I remember to manually set it to the appropriate one.

Is there a simple way to do this?

TIA

Go to Entourage > Preferences (or Entourage > Mail & News Preferences, or
Edit > Preferences > Mail & News, depending on your version), and, under
"Mail & News Preferences", click "Reply & Forward". Uncheck the option to
"Reply using the default account", and then replies to messages should be
automatically addressed from the account to which the original messages were
sent.

Hi

Thanks for the quick reply.

That's already *un*checked...

That's why I'm mystified as to why my messages
are going out from the wrong addresses unless I
explicitly set the correct return address...

Question: are the incoming messages addressed to addresses that are
actually aliases of a real address? For instance I have an address,
[email protected], that automaticlaly forwards to my Earthlink
address and gets picked up when I pick up my Earthlink mail. When I
reply, it defaults to a return address (From) of my Earthlink account.

Paul Berkowitz wrote some AppleScripts that address this problem (pun
intended), but they have not been updated for OS X (apparently not a
high demand for them): Reply Rerouted Account. Paul could probably whip
up an OS X version for you in a few minutes; I think the only change
needed is to make a separate script for preferences, instead of using
the Akua osax to recognize a "command key" to trigger preference setup.

If Paul does not want to do it, I will; Paul should see this and let us know.

Yeah, that's pretty much what's going on with mine.

That'd be great. If one of you doesn't get to it, I'll have a go but
I'm not sure exactly when I'll have the spare time.

I'd need to learn Applescript, though.

Thanks
