Making a cross

J

John

Greetings,

How do I make a cross ( a big plus sign) and then type some text into each
of its four quadrants? I used the draw feature. However, it is hard to make
a perfectly symmetrical cross with that feature. What's more, I cannot get
the cursor in the cross as it is a drawing, which makes it hard to obtain
the cursor inside of the box that it was drawn in. Thank you kindly for your
assistance.

I would create a table with 2 columns and 2 rows. Via Table > Table
Properties > Column tab and Rows tab, set the desired width of each column to
half the width of your cross and set the height of each row to the same
amount (select “Exactly†in the “Row height is†field). Remove the outer
borders and make sure to apply borders between the columns and rows (can be
done via Format > Borders and Shading > Borders tab or via the Tables and
Borders toolbar). Type your text in each of the four table cells.

I like Lene's idea of a table, but note that there is a cross AutoShape,
which you can draw, then right-click and choose "Add Text."
