Making Text Fit Flush In Columns

Hi everyone, is there a simple method to ensure that the text in my 9.75 H x
3.66 W text boxes fits flush top to bottom so each column of text has perfect
alignment? My master page creates my margins but I am then inserting text
boxes into these columns. (is this okay or maybe what is causing the
misalignment? Thanks in advance.

What version Publisher are you using?

Have you tried using the Baseline guides? View, Baseline guides. The text size
is formatted in the Arrange menu.

Format, paragraph, check align text to baseline guides. You will have to do this
for every text box.

Why are you using two separate text boxes rather than columns in one box. Do a
ctrl+shift+enter to go to the top of the next column.

Mary, I am using Publisher 2007. I haven't used the base line guides. I set
up my margins they way I wanted them them within those margins I create the
text boxes then connect them for auto flow throughout each article. Not good?

Don, my columns are created on my master pages using the red/blue lines but
I am then adding text boxes within those red/blue lines.

I take it I have done something wrong here?

I'm not completely sure I understand what you are doing. Have you opened the
Design Checker? Sometimes the checker can find problems. Are you creating text
boxes on the master page? If you are, why?

How about the Special Characters option. You could give the text boxes no
margin. Right-click the text box, format text box, text box tab.

Hi Mary, I have a Master Template that has my top, bottom, left and right
margins set and it has 2 vertical columns separated by .167" When that
template is applied to a page or page range I am then creating a text box in
each column on either a page or page range. I then link each text box
together so the text autoflows. All I want to do is have the text in each
text box fit flush to the top and bottom of the text boxes so that across the
page or page range everything looks nice and aligned. Hope this helps explain
it.

Well, Phil, you could put the text boxes in the scratch area side by side and
adjust until you think they are the way you want and then position the boxes in
your publication. There are options for character spacing and paragraph
adjusting. Patience can be rewarded.

Thank you Mary, should I not be doing it the way I am currently doing it? I
guess I am supposed to be typing directly on the page within my margins and
not the text boxes I have created?

Phil.
