Many Problems

S

Shannon

Computer: Mac G5 OS X running on Microsoft exchange server in
corporate setting.

Problems:
1) Unable to send email to outside accounts like yahoo, hotmail etc.
(sending to people withing company works fine). I contacted Microsoft
help for a solution, but it was only a temporary fix and the problem is
back.

2) The company mainly uses Outlook, and when they send a meeting
request from outlook, i dont get an accept/decline options in
entourage, nor is the time automatically added to my calendar.

3) As an administrator and sole user of this computer and entourage,
why is it that my email shows as a different account than "On My
Computer". Is there a way to make On My computer use the settings
for my email and exchange server?

Id really appreciate any feedback, I about to give up on this program.

Are you using the latest version of entourage, with an Exchange account set
up, or are you using SMTP/IMAP to send mail?

This is likely a 'sending settings' problem. In the account settings, what
do you have down as the mail server to be used for sending mail (The SMTP
Server)?
2) The company mainly uses Outlook, and when they send a meeting

This is an outlook problem - their invite format is malformed and does not
conform to correct protocols.

Drag the attached invite out to the desktop, rename the extension to .ics
and drag the invite back onto the entourage application icon - it should
then be recognised as a calendar event.

Again, your 'real name' and email address are set up in the account
settings. Go to the Tools menu, choose 'Accounts', select your account and
click the 'Edit' button. Work through the various settings in there,
checking each one is right. You may need to confirm some of them with your
IT department.

Don't so that! It's working great for the vast majority of users :)

Open your Exchange account (Tools -> Accounts), and click the "Mail" tab.
Click the "Advanced Sending Options" button, and try toggling the option for
"SMTP server requires authentication". If that doesn't work, try toggling
the option for "SMTP service requires a secure connection (SSL)".

That happens because you access Exchange mail from the server; it is not
downloaded to your computer and removed from the server. If your Exchange
e-mail administrator has POP access enabled, you could set up your Exchange
account as a POP account in Tools -> Accounts. However, you wouldn't be
able to access your mail from Outlook Web Access or other Exchange Clients,
and you'd lose what little support there is for viewing Public Folders.
