Mass Deletion of Records

Thomas

At the end of every stock trading day, I download data from an exchange.
The data is like:

Date Stock Name Open Hi Low Close Ticker
------ -------------- ------ --- ----- ------ -------
09/24/04 ABC INC 50 51 49 49.5 AB
09/24/04 DUD HLDG 3.3 3.4 3.2 3.48 DUH
09/24/04 GOOG 121 125 103 104 GC

There about 750 stocks in each file and I need to delete about 300 of them.
Ticker is the key to use. I don't think the Autofilter is suited to the task.
I believe Vlookup is the one without resorting to Access but I'm clueless in
this area. I need all the help I can get.

Thanks,
Thomas

Why not?
You must have a column/columns yo'll filter on. Maybe you can use existing
ones, or you create one, where you mark rows to delete - manually or by
formula. Using autofilter, display only rows to delete, select them (NB!
Rows, not ranges!), and from dropdown menu select Delete (NB! Don't use
Delete key for this). Remove the filter.

Arvi,

I'm not at my Excel pc right now. You mean I can use Autofilter to delete
250 records everday without having to key in them every day?
