Maths divide symbol

How do I get the maths divide symbol used in schools as one of my symbols on
microsoft word. I've been on other computers and if I remember correctly I
hold down ctrl and alt and press 246 on the number pad but it's not working
on mine. Thank you.

The alt+### depends on the codeset used. Worked fine with MSDOS, but
with new software allowing extended character sets, it is increasingly
unreliable.

In Word, select menu "Insert - Symbol". You'll find any symbol in the
grid, and can even assign a keypress to it.

Hold the Alt key down, press 0247 on the numeric keypad and release
the Alt key.
You can see numbers like this in Character Map.
