Merge to email with embedded hyperlink

The merge works great but the body of my message contains a hyperlink to a web site (not a local or network drive). The hyperlink is removed when I use merge. If I do exactly the same thing manually (one address at a time - not using merge) the hyperlink is retained. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
