Message disappears in Reply

I've seen other people report this problem, but I haven't seen a fix
yet. When I reply to a message, sometimes the original message (which I
like to be included in my reply) will not show up in my reply, only an
attribution line will, but not the text. In my preferences the setting
is that the original message be included, and it usually works, but not
always. It seems that the error occurs more frequently after some back
and forth with multiple messages included. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Anja,

Two possibilities, that could account for inconsistency here--

1) if you have text selected in the original message, Entourage will
only include the selected text in the reply (even if you just
accidentally selected a space).

2) people often preface their signature with a line consisting of
"--[space]", which is a signal to most email clients, including
Entourage, to delete the text that follows that line. For instance, if
one person in a back and forth uses this convention, but the other one
doesn't, this could wind up cutting some text. You can select text and
then hit reply to override this behavior.

Hope that helps. If not, you should probably post version of Entourage
and OS for people to investigate more deeply.

Thanks a lot, I'll check out option two and will avoid using the --
[name] signature in the future. ( I'm pretty sure that I hadn't
selected anything, so that rules out option 1)
