Message go to outbox, but not sent

I am using Outlook 2002. All message that I compose ,
when clicking send button go to the outbox. They do not
get sent until I click tools send and receive all
accounts. I went to tools, options,and the box is checked
for send and receive immediately. I would just like to
click send and have it be sent. Any suggestions?
