Message list display in grouped view

In Entourage 2004, I view my mail in the new grouped three vertical column
format, which I really like. The inbox message list groupings for the prior
week (e.g., "Today," "Yesterday," etc.) list for each message the sender,
subject and day & time the message was *received.* I'd like the list to
instead display the day & time the message was *sent.* If I arrange the
grouped list in the order messages were sent, the sort order is correct, but
the day & time displayed is still the day & time of receipt. I've noodled
around in the custom arrangements window, but haven't been able to come up
with a solution.

It does display sent time when sorted by Sent here OMM. I've just done a few
checks on messages where the (final) received time is later than sent time,
and it's the sent time that's displayed when I have messages sorted by sent
within groups. (This is true both for my plain "Sent" ordering and also for
a custom arrangement where groups themselves are by subject but ordering
within the groups are by Sent). Entourage always converts all times to your
own local time zone for display purposes so that messages will sort
correctly. Are you possibly being influenced by that? Or could you give an
example? (It may also be that once the "time" message list display has been
set once it doesn't change when you make different Group arrangements, at
least not I the session of Entourage.)

What I do find annoying is that sent messages (message I sent) display
showing the sender's name (me every time) in folders other than officially
designated "Sent Items" folders (local and IMAP). In 3-column view,
Entourage does not check whether a particular message is a sent (outgoing)
or received (incoming) message. It just displays the sender every time if
not in a Sent Items folder. I'm sure that's much faster, but it's also
rather useless when I've set up my own folders for sent messages for a
particular POP account, for example.

Son of a gun...I checked my message list again, looked at the detailed
message header on a specimen message, and see that you're absolutely right.
My message list is displaying in the same manner you describe, which is just
the way I want it to. And the local time zone is correctly set. Well, chalk
this one up to operator confusion. Sorry for the false alarm.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank you, Paul, for the many
freeware Entourage scripts you've posted. I've used Group Sort and Duplicate
Calendar Events regularly for years, used others from time to time, and just
started regularly using Message Template in conjunction with Entourage
2004's new background image capability.

I'm glad everything's working, including those older scripts. Almost nothing
was done in 2004 that would upset any scripts written for X, except possibly
one or two involving text selection. (I started allowing for Unicode text -
as used in 2004 - while still in X, but there might be one or two scripts
that still need it added. No one has written me about any such problem as
yet, however.)
