Message not appearing in Entourage 2008

Monkeys_Typing

Hello,

I am wondering if anybody has seen this, or better yet has a solution. We
are moving to Entourage 2008 and Exchange 2007 from an IMAP mail system and a
number of mail clients.

Recently we have seen a number of messages that showed up in OWA or a
secondary Entourage installation (home vs. work), but never got pulled down
to Entourage 2008. This has recently become visible with people who checked
their email from multiple Entourage 2008 installations, and the issue has
appeared with both deletes not syncing and new messages that showed up in one
Entourage installation (or OWA), but not the other.

I have tried a new profile, and have at least one message that never got
pulled down by the initial sync.

This is, needless to say, of large concern to our organization.

Thanks

Jim

Hi Jim!

Entourage is susceptible to some message corruption problems that
Outlook may not hit. Compare what's downloading in Entourage with OWA
and see if you have a corrupt message.

Often, these messages will stick out. They may contain attachments, be
an unusual size, contain Asian fonts or something else unusual.

Hope this helps!

Ah... Good hint. I've seen this a couple times. I do get a lot of mail with
Asian fonts. Although I don't know if Japanese and Chinese email is
"unusual". :)

Only thing is I don't have OWA. I have an opensource web mail and IMAP.

Hmm... Methinks I should be thinking a bit more globally. Point well
taken. :)

But the original poster does. Same principal would apply to any E-mail
system though. Check webmail. Or check from a different client.

So do we have a solution as to how to get Entourage to bring all the mail through? We started seeing this problem this morning. My boss travels daily for work and needs to be able to receive her e-mails from her mac that she takes with her. It seems we are having this problem with all e-mails that have attachments.

E-mail message as attachment is unreadable in Exchange Server 2007
environment

Hi Maureen!

What troubleshooting have you already done? I provided Jim some tips
earlier.

I have a user with a similar issue. Mail after a specific date (6/20/2008) does not show up in Entourage 2008. We use Exchange Server 2003 for mail. OWA shows all mail. I've reconfigured his mail and verified his settings - still no mail.

The account gives every indication it is connected to the server and he can send mail from Entourage successfully. I don't think he ever receives mail with Asian fonts, though I am not 100% sure.

I'm stumped.

First, look at OWA and Entourage and compare messages. Find a folder in
Entourage that's missing messages. Right-click that folder, select
Folder Properties and Empty the cache. Let the folder re-sync.

If that doesn't fix the issue for that folder then you have a bad
message. You'll have to compare OWA with Entourage until you start
finding differences. Corrupt or malformed messages are often unusual for
some reason. Too big, spam message, odd attachment, etc.

Hope this helps!
