Message Rules

I have just moved from OE to Outlook as my mail client.

I wish to set up a message rule to prevent download of mail for another
family member, and vice versa. We have different e-mail addresses, but use
the same username / ISP account. This was relatively straightforward in OE,
but despite using the message rules wizard and reading the help pages, I
cannot find any way of doing this in Outlook.

Can anyone assist please ?

Regards.

If the two addresses are actually aliases for the same mailbox on the ISP
side, the best you can do is to use rules to move the messages to different
folders based on the receiving address. There is no way to selectively
download messages with Outlook.

Thanks Brian.

That's very disappointing. I thought Outlook was supposed to be a more
powerful and versatile program, than OE.

It is, but obviously not in every single detail. The writers of Outlook and
the writers of Outlook Express had a slightly different connection model in
mind when they designed their respective products.
