Message when I try to re-access graph

Hi Everyone: After I create a chart (bar graph) in Word and try to re-access
it later for editing purposes I get the following message:

"The server application, source file, or item cannot be found. Make sure the
application is properly installed, and that it has not been deleted, moved
or renamed."

Why do I get this message? It even happens if I click out of the graph and
try to get back into the graph only seconds later. I want to be able to edit
at will so I can copy and not start from scratch every time I construct a
similar graph for another set of data. Any help would be appreciated!!
