I have a user that is reporting that when she moves a "large" number of
e-mail messages from her inbox into another folder, they disappear. This
problem does not happen with smaller moves (single message or a small groups.)
Our environment:
Mac G5 running OS X 10.4 and Entourage 11.2.3 connecting to a Microsoft
Exchange 2003 server running SP2. The Exchange server contains the mailbox,
and all the folders in question. The user has created folder underneath the
Inbox to store her archived messages. The user has a large mailbox - about 4
GB.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to reliably duplicate this problem.
However, I do occassionally get an error message in Entourage during a
synchronization with the Exchange server, after a large change has happened.
The message says "Could not synchronize record: Chuck out to Exchange Server:
Exchange." I'm not sure if this message is related to the problem, since
this can happen even if a move is successful. I have checked the Entourage
temporary folder for the presence of "blck" files that some other newsgroup
messages have mentioned. There were only 5 of these files in there, which
appears to be normal.
Does anyone have any suggestions or trouble-shooting ideas? I have not been
able to rule out user error yet. I'm not very familiar with the MAC platform
- is there any chance the user could be "mis-clicking" and getting this
behavior? I have ruled out the possibility that she is simply dragging the
messages to the wrong folder.
