Messages in sent folder get deleted automically

I am new to Entourage. I've used Outlook Express/Outlook in the past
and those programs do not automatically delete sent email, but
Entourage does. I often need to find old sent emails, so I don't want
the system deleting them. Does anyone know how to change this
setting?

Thanks.

Go to Entourage > Preferences, and, under "Mail & News Preferences", click
"Compose". Under "General", make sure the "Save copies of sent messages in
the Sent Items folder" option is checked.

If that doesn't work, what kind of account are you using? If it's an IMAP
account, have you selected a folder in which to store sent items in the
account settings? Have you verified the messages are actually being sent?
If there is an error, they should just stay in the Outbox. Did you make
sure there aren't any outgoing rules (Tools > Rules) set to delete outgoing
mail? Or any schedules (Tools > Schedules) set to delete all mail from the
Sent Items folder?

Mickey,

Thanks for your reply. My sent messages are in the sent folder. The
problem is that after about a week or so, they disappear, so I assume
they are being deleted. I have a POP account. I checked the schedules
and the sent folder is not included in my delete schedule. So I have
created a saved sent folder and created a rule that copies all sent
emails to that folder. I'll try that unless you or someone else has
another solution.

I would take a good hard look at the rules you've created if I were you.
They are very often the cause of such behavior.
Good idea. Also check your "Schedules" to make sure you don't have one that
deletes old items from various folders. For example, I have one that runs on
shutdown to delete items older than 35 days from several of my folders,
including Sent Items.
