Messaging interface error

Since applying all the latest patches for Outlook 2003 I can no longer empty
or archive the junk mail folder - nor delete any e-mails. Just an error
message saying the messaging interface has returned an unknown error.
Furthermore I now receive multiple copies of the same mail even though Pop3
ScanMailbox shows only one on the ISP server.

Any ideas?
