Microsoft Entourage can't open window 1

M

Maclazaro

hi there

Two macs with office 2004 have the same issue, randomly entourage
displays a message when closing saying:

microsoft entourage can find window 1

These two computer have had same issue in the past, corrupted
database. One of this computers have lost mails from its sent folder.
Possibly when we rebuilt the database, but after checking the backup
files from Entourage those files had already disappear. Could this be
an error from my mail Server client KERIO?

So I am confused. Can someone tell me if specific data from a folder
can be corrupted and disappear.
if this can be a virus, and what the hell is window 1. i have not seen
any similar error in the knowledge database.

So i am thinking in unistalling office from both computers, and re-
start from scratch entourage. if someone has ever had the same error
please give me a hint of what to do

Whenever your problem involves exchange you should put that in the subject
so the exchange specialists will know to check your message.

Since it's a Mac it's most likely not a virus, but a virus application could
be quarantining your emails. They have been known to put the entire Identity
folder in quarantine.

Not sure about the window 1. Maybe someone else has a clue.
So i am thinking in unistalling office from both computers, and re-

This rarely fixes problems like you describe.

This sounds like AppleScript terminology. Do you possibly have any
scripts that are set to run when Entourage quits? Check Tools -->
Schedules... for any schedules set to run scripts at Quit.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your advice Diane.

About my post, actually yes it is good to be briefed about how to post
properly.

On the other hand i think that your answer is not productive at all, your
forums ar far from being clear and accessible to the community to be so
picky!!!

We bought a product from you guys, and because we are a charity we dont get
support as our licence do not cover it. So after spending a fortune in your
software seeking for advice in your incredibly bad structured website, after
all the hassle to find a spot to post to be able to get some advice from
microsfot, i get your post as an answer, i will be incredibly disappointed.
With your attitude no wonder people do not like microsoft much.

luckily your colleague has at least made an effort to try to help to solve
the problem.

Thanks for your "advice".

mate thanks a lot for your answer, there are no scripts set up for when we
quit entourage.
apart from Empty deleted items folder, send all, send and receive all and
reply signature.

The two computers affected for that issue have a the reply signature script
that the rest of the computers do not have... how can i check the inside of
that scritp to find out if it is the one?

man i think that you hit the spot!!! i will wait to see, but the two
commputers affected had an script different to the rest, it was a script to
reply without signature. it was schedulle to run every minute... i do not
know how it affected the computer, i will wait to see if the error message
does not happen again. Fingers crossed!!!

I'd better reply before Diane gets here. ;-)

Please understand that these are not Diane's forums and she is not a
Microsoft employee. She is an unpaid volunteer with several years of
support helping others with various versions of Entourage and other
E-mail applications. She has no control over how you find the forums.

I'm not sure which website to which you're referring. Microsoft's? If
so, I'll add a "me too" to that. Unfortunately, no one in here has
control over that. Again, we're all just people helping people. No one
in here is official Microsoft support and no one here is paid either.
Diane, I and a few others have been awarded by Microsoft for helping
folks, but it's nothing that we get paid for.

If you look at the number of posts that Diane composes each day then you
may understand why sometimes she may come across a little terse but
she's not intending to display an ill attitude. (Unless, maybe, she's
received attitude first--then WATCH OUT!) She tries to answer many of
the unanswered posts here and then those that she can't answer she'll at
least give some advice, such as "put Exchange in your subject line".
More importantly, if she can't answer she at least makes sure that a
message has someone paying attention to it, such as herself, or she'll
even forward messages to fellow MVPs to make sure they see them. Just
got one from her myself today as a matter of fact.

I wouldn't go so far as to call the Microsoft forums (they're just
called that, not owned by Microsoft) a charity but they're a giving
community. Diane is probably the most giving of her time here and with
her two websites listed in my signature below.

You can open the script using the Script Editor application found in the
/Applications/AppleScript folder. If you see the script listed under the
Script menu in Entourage then you can hold the Option key down while
selecting it from the menu to automatically open the script in Script
Editor.

Hope this helps!

I did not know how you gusy work, it seems that I have been a bit
unfair with your colleague for her message then. Then my apologies. As
you know when you are desperate seeking for help, the last thing you
need is someone being not very helpfull and remind you ythe beginner
that one can be.

I have managed to solve the problem, i had the feeling that it was an
script but i was looking into the code!!!! aafter checking all
computers with different scripts i found the scripts that were only
the ones giving that annoying message.

William, thank you for opening my eyes, and pass my apologies to your
colleague.

Keep up the work!!!!

down with microsoft!!! they should pay you!!!!
