Microsoft Entourage X Signature Question.

d g

I'm trying to setup Entourage's signature to be a hyper link to an
image on the web. So, I want to use < img src=
"http://whatever.com/images/hooray.png" >, in the signature and have
the image appear when the sent email message is opened.

at first, i wanted to use mail.app, but after searching it doesn't
support composing in HTML. so, i'm looking for an alternative. does
Entrouage support this? and if so, how does one do it? i've yet to
figure out a process that works.

Don't want that. Email is low-bandwidth because it's text. No one wants
to receive a message from you and then also have to download some dumb
image. Most people have their email clients set *not* to do so, so
they'll never even see your image. If you want to play with pictures,
put up a Web page. m.

If all you want to do is have a link the recipient can click on, simply
type or copy the URL text into the signature compose window.
If what you want to do is have the signature automatically launch or
insert into the email some image from a website, I'd have to agree with
Matt. No offense intended, but that just sounds so "spammy".
Most folks I know (myself included) go to great pains to make sure that
nothing like that would ever insult our "text only" email experience.
;-)

I had one person kept sending blank emails. When I asked them what
they were doing, their entire message was a hyperlink. We straigtened
his butt out right then and there. He's now a considerate emailer and
has found good favour in the email community again.

enjoy,

well, personallly... i'm not doing this to my own email account setups.
it's something that some of the managers in my company want so...
irregardless of weather you guys like it or not, it's something they
would like to do.

it's not necessarily a link that someone can click on. it's a small
image of an issue that will change week to week. this is why i want to
be able to link to said image, so i can have a central location to
change every issue.

Hi "d".
Understood.

But maybe it would be good to try to let the company know that not
every "wow" idea is always a good one.
There may be some of your company's clients that would appreciate this
feature. Others may find it annoying.
But since so many people go to such pains to protect themselves from
villanous activities that are initiated by just such features, and
others set up their email clients to block such actions (text only) to
prevent simply what they consider an annoyance, a goodly number of your
recipients will never see it anyway.

And it might also do well for them to understand that since this type
of thing is so often used by spammers, it doesn't shine a very happy
light on them to be lumped into such a catagory.

It is kind of the browser equivalent of "pop-up" windows on the
internet. Not just for porn any more, but considered such an annoyance
that every browser on the market has a ready button to click to stop
them.

Just something to think about.

have fun,
ht

Well, the only reason this comes up, is because it's something that
many of the other big wigs in the industry do. So, it's sort of like
competing with the Jones's.

Users on a Windows box, it's very simple using Outlook. I'm just
having a problem setting this up for some of the Mac users. I doubt
that all users will want this, it would just be nice to give the option
to the Mac users.
