Microsoft Installer for Office 2003 Professional Ed. not respondi

I am trying to do a reinstallation of Office. The installer hangs right
after I select the type of installation I want and hit install. I tried it
from both the add/remove programs and the disc. The disc may be scratched.
Outlook also hangs when I try to start it. That is why I am trying to do a
reinstall.

What happens if you select Detect/Repair, or select Repair from the office
cd?
