Microsoft Mail

Dear Guys,

My school is using Microsoft Mail. My other colleagues are using WINTEL
machine and therefore they all use Microsoft Outlook to access the Microsoft
Mail.

The question I have is: how do I set up my Entourage 2004 to do the same?

Configuration:
PowerBook G4
Mac OS Tiger
MS Office 2004

Thank you for your input.

I have the same thing at my school. Here, we're using Exchange Server,
so the first thing I had to find out was the name of the Exchange
Server from the IT support person. Once I did that, I opened Entourage,
clicked on tools>accounts, and then on the Exchange tab. Click on the
new button and enter the email for your school account. Enter your user
ID (usually your log on for the school network), the name of the
server, and your password for the email system. If everything is right,
Entourage then pretty much configures itself.
I have my home Mac set up to connect by imap (I used to use Pop3), and
I have full access to all my mail folders at school.

Thanks for the great news.

I hope that I have the same kind of luck as you did.

The IT people here are not Mac-friendly. Plus, there are only 2 teachers
here using Mac out of 120; the IT people consider us "the crazy ones, the
misfits,...."

I'm in a similar position, though the Mac friendliness factor is
improving. Three of us out of 80 (and some students) have managed to
sneak Macs onto the network, and the IT people are beginning to
appreciate the merits of computers that require no tech support and
have no viruses. I'm working on converting two of our IT people, who
are strongly tempted.

No, I'm rather sure you can't set up Microsoft Entourage to access Microsoft
Mail. There may be some older application for Classic that can, but
Entourage can't unless Mail can be set up in some way so that you can access
your mailbox by POP/IMAP/Exchange (WebDAV).

Do you mean the Mail Server has to be set up in some way so that I can
access my mailbox by POP/IMAP/EXCHANGE?

That will probably be mission impossible.
