Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 - Contacts - Email - Plain Text

G

Gary Ryan

With the viruses out there, I am getting requests from mail recepients to
only send them email in Plain Text.

I do not want to send out all my email in Plain Text, only to people who ask
for it in Plain Text.

Is there any way to flag the Contacts V-Card for those that want plain text
to only have their messages in plain text?

And, if one of these is in a distribution list or on an email sent to
various parties, can his/her email (only) go out as plain text when the
"send" button is pressed?

The ability to mark contacts for plain text only is absent from Outlook on
the Contact Record. Instead, you will need to open the contact record,
double click on the email address and then mark the contact to receive plain
text from there. It should stick.

As for distribution lists, I have not tested but if you have members who
have their contact record set to receive only plain text, all members of the
list should receive plain text only. Outlook will not send 2 different
types of mail, it will select the lowest common denominator for the mail
since that can be read by all. In this case, everyone should receive plain
text messages.
