microsoft OL will not open

i just installed ms office xp prof. all the programs open okay except
outlook. I get the following error message: "Unable to open your default
e-mail folder. would you like to open your default file system folder
instead?" We previously had ms office prof 2003 installed that we replaced
with ms office xp prof. What do I need to do?

Let me get this straight.
How did you replace a newer version with an older one?
Did you realize the information store would not be compatible?
You'll need to create a new profile with a new PST file.
