Microsoft Sync

Lately (the past couple of weeks), I've used Activity Monitor to check
on other applications. What I found was that Microsoft Sync was running
and grabbing all the memory it could. It's taking 99% and over whenever
it can.

I let it run to see when it would finally quit its task. After two
days, I rebooted. Sync doesn't start again so I assume it HAS finished
what it set out to do.

Entourage is only set to sync with Address Book.

What is Microsoft Sync doing? Why does it command so much of my G5's
dual processor attention? Why doesn't it stop?

With thanks for your consideration.

I've observed that changes to Entourage's catologue of archived mail
triggers Microsoft Sync.

Still wondering what MS Sync is doing, why it is so CPU intensive, and
why it doesn't quit without having to reboot the system.

No responses; other than my own.

I use Activity Manager to force quit Microsoft Sync. So far, Entourage
continues to work well.

I don't know why you are having the problem you have; I just want to say
that I have been syncing Entourage to Address Book and iCal for weeks
without any major issues. I have over 2500 contacts, and it appears to work
just fine.

I would urge you to read the articles referred to on this page:

http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq_topic/sync_services.html

They cover the ground very well, and probably you will find your solution
there.

Thanks, Allen.

I found some suggestions at the Website you passed along that have made
all the difference in the world. Sync works immediately, without error,
and is done in a blink.
