migrating Entourage to OSX

I'm using Entourage 2001 SE with OS 9.2.2.

I'm finally going to make the jump to OSX, probably when Panther
(10.3) comes out this Fall. But, I need to take ALL my email with me.

I have an earlier version of OSX (10.1.5) and the included Apple Mail
program will not import Entourage 2001 SE (it will import Outlook
Express 4.5 and 5.0, though).

I'm willing to go either way....stick with Entourage (which means
buying Entourage X somewhere) or shift to Apple Mail. What I must be
able to do is import my old mail (40,000 archived messages over the
last 7 or 8 years) into my next mail app.

Once I opted to use the obscure Entourage 2001 SE it seems my
compatability problems began.

Here are my two questions:

1) Does anyone know if Entourage X will import Entourage 2001 SE?

2) Has anyone been able to get Apple Mail to import Entourage 2001 SE
under any version of OSX?

Entourage X will import from 2001 SE. The database format is exactly the
same as the full version.
