Misc. personal folders missing

I have a user at our company who created personal folders in Entourage
2004. Now when logging in to Entourage, she sees personal folders from
2005 and 2006, but the 2008 ones she says she created are gone.
Could seeing only some personal folders be a symptom of possible
database corruption?

Do these folders exist on an Exchange server, an IMAP server, a Hotmail
account, or "On My Computer"? Is this the same copy of Entourage? Can she
use a Custom View to find the contents of these folders?

They are personal folders "on My Computer". Doing an advanced search
for some messages that she knows she stored in the 2008 folders does
not return the messages.
I have not used Custom Views before, but can check it out.
The title bar of her Entourage window says Main Identity 2, although
in her Microsoft User Data there is no Main Identity 2, only Main
Identity (and some old backups from 2006).
There is only one account configured in Entourage.

Looks like her mouse was acting up, she kept opening more instances of
the mail window, hence the Mail Identity 2, etc.
The database rebuild did not bring the 2008 personal folders back.

So let me see if I understand this correctly. She launched Entourage, added
some mail to folders, quit Entourage, and when she next used Entourage these
folders were missing?

Does anything show up if you go to the Entourage menu and choose Switch
Identity?

She created the 2008 folders at the beginning of the year, 2007 last
year, etc. Long story is she took the laptop home this weekend and
could not get a network connection, so was working offline. When she
got back to the office she noticed that the 2008 personal folders are
missing, which are the ones she is most concerned about. However, 2005
and 2006 are still there, so not ALL personal folders have
disappeared.
Switching identities doesn't show anything different. She only has one
identity, plus some backups of said identity. The most recent is
yesterday, when I did the rebuild, and the next one before that is
January, which is too old to help.

Are the personal folders stored in the Main Identity/Database, or is
there some other location where these get stored?

If these folders had been accidentally deleted, they'd be subfolders of the
Deleted Items folder. Look there and see if there's a little triangular
arrow that allows you to expand it.

If not, and you're not finding anything with searches or custom views, I'm
out of ideas. Folders typically do not just disappear.
