Missing Exchange Features

I am about to move a dozen MAC Outlook users to Entourage so that we
can work with our Exchange server without dealing with classic. There
are some features that are missing or that I cannot find.

Out of Office Assistant. I know I can set up a rule to deliver an out
of office message, but that is of no use once I disconnect the
Powerbook from the network and actually go out of the office. Outlook
handled out of the office on the server end so it worked if the
computer was shut down or off the network.

Private events in the calendar. It seems that when Entourage syncs the
calendar to the exchange server it syncs EVERYTHING including the
subject of the event which can be read in Windows Outlook. I
understand that I can set a category to not sync to the server but the
problem is it syncs nothing and the time still shows as available on
the network. Is there a happy medium that doesn't involve using cryptic
subjects to obscure private events or not syncing a category and
setting up two events one as a reminder one to block the time?

lastly I like that I can have the program running without the window
open in the background but every time it syncs to the server it puts up
a little progress window. Is there any way to make this go away?

We don't have it in Entourage, but you still can access the feature
through Webmail (in the options on the OWA interface).

Ahhh, I see what you mean... Unfortunately I don;t know any workaround
for that. It won't add an entry on the ncalendar telling people you're
busy at that time unless you actually allow Entourage to sync the
category :-(

Not that I know of :-(

Thanks

The OWA option sounds better than opening outlook in classic to set it.
I hope IT gives us access soon!!

I didn't think there would be an easy solution to the calendar issue
other than having the common sense not use thing like "Job Interview"
as the subject!

As for the progress window until that can be made to go away we'll just
have to stick with dragging it off the screen. The problem is every
time you re-launch you have to do it again. Non of these are real
killers, but added together they are extremely annoying.

In my experiences, you can get around having Entourage's progress window
appear by either hiding Entourage (Command + H) or by minimizing Entourage
to the dock (Command + M).

It seems that the progress window ONLY appears on the desktop when Entourage
has been closed/hidden by pressing the little red stop light widget in the
application's upper left hand corner (for lack of a better technical
description).

Try minimizing or hiding Entourage to see if the progress window behavior
doesn't improve.
