Missing messages

I'm receiving all my e.mail OK (at least I THINK I am) but once I have
read messages, some of them just disappear, never to be found again.

I have already upgraded to the latest version of Office, done a basic
database rebuild and an advanced database rebuild and the problem
persists.

I love this application and want to keep using it, but now I can't
trust that I can find all my e.mails. Anyone else having this problem?
Got any ideas on what to try next?

Check under the 'View' menu that 'unread only' is not checked.
