Missing sent messages!

Please can someone help with a rather curious problem? Just starting today,
whenever I type up an email and press Œsend¹, you cannot find the Œsent
messages¹ in the Œsent messages¹ folder and that is how I¹ve set up
Entourage to save my messages! It¹s worked fine up until this morning but
for some reason, messages are Œdisappearing¹ and they¹re not in any other
folder! I¹ve just taken off Norton Personal Firewall but I cannot imagine
that that would have anything to do with Entourage messages disappearing.
I¹ve re-enabled the Mac personal firewall! I¹m using an iMac G4! HELP. Am
I doing something really stupid here???

Is this a local "Sent Items" folder ("On My Computer"), or do you have an
IMAP account with its own Sent Items or Sent Messages folder on the server,
set up in the Advanced pane of the Account in Entourage?

1. Could it be that instead of the Sent column showing, you now have the
Rerceived column showing in that folder? Turn off Received, and turn on Sent
in View menu/Columns, and everything should be OK.

2. Are you quite sure that they're not ending out of order - lower down the
list for example, right at the bottom? If so, do a Typical Rebuild of the
database :hold down Option key when launching Entourage and choose Typical.

3. Do you have an IMAP account, so that your Sent Items folder in question
is actually on the server? (Have you also looked in the Sent Items folder
"On My Computer"? Are they there? If so check the Advanced settings again
for your IMAP account, make sure you have the correct Sent Items folder
set.)

4. Are the messages still in the Outbox, but sent (i.e. not Bold)? If
they're in the Outbox, there's a problem either with your ISP's IMAP server
or just possibly with Entourage - see 6 and 7 below.

5. If none of the above, do an Advanced Rebuild of your database: hold down
Option key when launching Entourage and choose Advanced.

6. In the unlikely case that the messages are in the Outbox, first make sure
they really got sent - did you get replies to them already? If they have
been sent, then if you have an IMAP account ask your ISP or IT admin if
there's some problem at their end. If not, or if this is a POP account where
you expect the messages to go to the local Sent Items folder, try the
Advanced Rebuild. If that doesn't help, quit Entourage. Remove the Microsoft
folder form here:

~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/

where ~ is your OS X user folder. Open Entourage. You'll have to make
various preferences over again, but you should be OK with the sent messages.

7. If still no good, use the Office Remover from the Value Pack on the
Office X CD (install it using the Value pack installer) to Remove Office. It
won't touch your data at all. Empty the trash. Reinstall Office and all the
Office updaters from 10.1.2, 10.1.4 and 10.1.5. You'll be fine now. I don't
expect this will be necessary.

Before you do anything, make a Custom view of

ˆ Messages
All Folders
Match if ALL criteria are met:
From Contains <your email address> (or From Is me)
Date sent Is today (or Is less than 3 days ago, or whatever)

See if the messages show up, and which Folder. If NO folder is indicated, do
the Advanced Rebuild now. Keep checking back to this custom view after every
step above if the messages don't appear in Sent Items.
