Missing sound sets in 12.0.1?

I also don't have sound working after installing the update. I noticed that
there is nothing in the folder "~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Entourage
Sounds sets"

This may be a clue. Guess I gotta save the identity, remove and reinstall
Office 2008 then do the update again...

Replying to my own email...

Removed and reinstalled O2008, applied the 12.0.1 update and lo and behold,
sounds are now present!

One thing I noticed along the way...

When O2008 was installed, I tried to start Entourage but it reported Rules
file was corrupt and ended. After I applied the update, Entourage started
normally. I did notice a subtle rules change after the update in that a
rule that moved certain emails to the deleted folder now deletes them
permanently. Checking the rule still showed "move to deleted folder". So,
I assume something in the update changed the rules so that they are no
longer "acceptable" to the unpatched version of Entourage.

For the record, Entourage reports the proper version - 12.0.1.

I went through basically the same process and had the same error regarding the Rules File.

My workaround (prior to reinstalling the 12.0.1 upgrade) was to remove the rules file and let Entourage build a new one.. It launched ok after that.

I did not try putting the old rule file back. I was just happy that it launched again. Hopefully no harm done. :p
