more problems with losing my identities.....

apparently it is too damn easy in os X to move crucial information
away from it's assigned spot. i apparently moved some files
(unintentionally!!!) and i totally lost my enoutourage and explorer
information & preferences. i have no emails, addresses, favorites,
etc.

i attempted to check my microsoft identities and now i have several
identities in several places. the problem is that i don't know which
are the original identities and which were automatically recreated
after i moved the files.

any idea how i can find out where my original stuff is and how to get
it back???

commentary:

i should not be able to move this stuff. i'm a libertarian in almost
every aspect of my life. however, since i don't get the logic of os X
(yet) i need some protection from myself!!!

OSX does not like computer fiddlers like me re-naming certain folders.
If you rename Documents (under users/name/documents) then shutdown, on
restart and going to Entourage one finds all content gone. OSX creates
another Documents folder with some Microsoft User Data Files - but
these have no data! I had to delete the new Documents folder, rename
the folder I had changed back to Documents and re-start. Everything
was then back to normal. I could not copy the old Microsoft files to
the new documents folder as it would not overwrite.
I would suggest bunging all your Microsoft identities bar one in the
Trash. make sure one is under users/your name/documents. Then restart.
If no joy, put that identity in the trash and try another one until
you get the one you want. Do not empty trash until you really want a
good flush! & good luck!!
