Move Entourage database to alternate location?

Does anyone know of a way to switch the location of the data for my Entourage
identity to an alternate location from the default location (hard
drive>users>home>documents>microsoft user data>office 2004 identities>my
identity). I want to keep that data on an external hard drive, rather than
the internal one.

Have you tried making an alias at /Users/you/Documents/Microsoft User
Data that points to the Microsoft User Data on the external drive?

Have not tried that. Have you? Did it work?

You can use an alias or a symlink, but having your data on an external drive
could result in slow downs.

I remember doing something like this back in Office X, and yes, it
worked, from what I remember. YMMV, of course.

This will work. After copying the Microsoft User Data Ÿ to the portable
drive (i use a 2G usb pen drive), make an alias and drag the alias to
your user documents folder. Remove the original Microsoft User Data Ÿ
from the User Documents Ÿ. REMOVE the "alias" suffix from the alias
folder you put in your user documents folder. if you don't, Entourage
will create another Microsoft User Data Ÿ that is empty upon startup of
Entourage.
