Hi all -
I remember when Office X had just come out, and I was at MacWorld at the MS
booth. Checking out Entourage, and noticed that if you sorted your mail
with the newest at the top, and deleted a message you were previewing, the
selection jumped UP in the list, rather than DOWN, as one would expect
(i.e. so that you were again looking at a message you had already looked at,
rather than the next one down in the list, which you likely had not yet
looked at).
I pointed this out to the MS rep, and his response was along the lines of
"You're right, that's pretty lame." It never got fixed in any of the
Office X updates. Now I've just dropped the $$ on Office 2004, naively
confident that this intuitive behavior, followed by most mail clients,
would finally be present.
Nope. In Preferences | Read there's an option for Moving to the next message
or closing the message window, but nothing for moving to the previous
message.
I know this seems like a small thing, but it requires SO much extra work on
the arrow keys, continually arrowing down to get out of previewing messages
you've just previewed. The only alternative is still to sort messages
with the newest at the bottom, rather than at the top. Sigh.
No fix in sight for this?
Thanks,
Scot
