Movie appearing as icon in presentation

When I insert a movie into a presentaiton it appears in a black box, which is
the actual size that the movie will play in when it runs. How can I get it
so that it apears as an icon, and then opens up and runs. I like the way
that the black box appears, rather than using windows media player, but i
jsut want it to appear as an icon the preentiaon until clicked.

Why don't you create the icon (or put the movie Action Button) on a slide
and set the action settings to link to another (identical-looking) slide
that has the movie set to play automatically?

You can set its Custom Animation settings to animate on click and 'Hide
while not playing'.
