Movie disappears when clicked on to play during presentation.

After the operating system was upgraded to XP I could no longer play video
clips in the presentation. The picture is there during the presentation but
when the mouse is placed on the video and clicked to play, the picture/video
disappears.

The videos and presentation are all in the same folder and saved on the LAN
server or share drive. A work around was to save everything on the
hard-drive of the computer it was to be shown from. The idea is to have the
presentation accessible through an intranet website, which can not be done
from the hard-drive.

I was told this was a problem with Windows Media Player. Can anyone help?

Since you're putting the videos on the web:

You can link to them from your presentation
or
Click on View, Toolbars, Control toolbox to display the toolbox. Click on
the More Controls icon on the toolbox and scroll down to select Windows Media
Player. Draw your media player screen on the slide. Right click on the
Media Player and select properties. For the item URL, enter the entire URL
to your video.

Thank you for your responce Glenna!

Is there a way to play the video while the presentation is open for editing?
Is there also a way to control the timing when using the WMP in this manner?
When playing the presentation, the video automatically plays when the slide
is selected. I have clicked on just about everything, and have not seen
where I could control the timing.

Do you have any idea as to why the XP operating system no longer plays the
video in PP when the information is saved on a network? I did not have this
problem when we were on the GD2000 system with this presentation.

When using the function to insert a movie from file, does this not use the
WMP to play the clip? This is how I would insert the video in the past.

Thanks again!
