Movie freezes up PowerPoint Presentation

We have mpeg files that we regularly insert into PowerPoint presentations.
All of a sudden, when we start the presentation, the movie shows on the
screen but doesn't play and PowerPoint is locked up. The movie will play in
Windows Media Player and wmplay32.exe. Also, when we hit "play movie" in
set up stage, it will play. There are a couple of movies that other people
created that work.
Does anyone have any ideas what might be happening and how to fix it?
